In another writing on this website, I testified to the healing power of God. He healed my heart and kept me problem free from 1975 to 2005.
Early in 2005, I was in a remote corner of rural Arizona, when I experienced chest pain and problems breathing. I rested and dismissed it as 'age'. The following morning, I experienced the same symptoms, except I had a very hard time breathing. After managing to finally breathe somewhat easier, I thought it time to have it checked out.
The Doctor placed me on oxygen, and ran all the normal tests. He then advised I had experienced a heart attack and recommended I be transferred to a major hospital in Tucson. I enjoyed the one hour ride in the helicopter.
They ran extensive tests and advised I had experienced two heart attacks, due to artery blockage. I authorized a heart catheterization (angioplasty). When I awoke, they had inserted three stents. Upon release from the hospital a few days later, the Doctor prescribed Plavix (a potent blood thinner) and advised I would need to take it for a minimum of two years, perhaps for life.
Some six months later, August, 2005, I was in the same remote area. For a couple of days I experienced blood in my stool. The third day was a heavy volume. I visited the same Doctor. He did not know the problem, but was pressing in his advice to again fly me to the Tucson hospital.
Upon my arrival, they said my blood loss was considerable and gave me four units of blood in a transfusion. Then a colonoscopy! The prognosis, the following day was cancer, with a recommendation of surgery.
Needless to say, this was shocking. In consideration of the surgery, I was advised by the Surgeon that the right half of my colon would need to be removed. As a result, there was a 50% chance that my condition would require a colostomy.
I asked The Lord what I should do. The answer was clear, submit to the surgery and trust Him to take care of the situation, whatever occurred. I authorized the surgery.
Upon waking from surgery, I found I did not have the colostomy. Praise God!
The Surgeon confirmed that he removed the right half of the colon, which contained the cancer. He said the cancer was in the early stages and only about an inch in diameter. Hopefully he got it all, but only time would tell. He also stated that the early bleeding, caused by the Plavix, allowed the early detection.
Early in 2006, after another colonoscopy and CAT scan, I received news that the colon was clear. However, I had a nodule in my right lung, two in my throat and one on the lining of my stomach. The prognosis was, I could expect to live from six months to one year without treatment.
The Doctors recommended chemotherapy, but cautioned that the radioactive material used to kill the malignant cells also killed good cells and was tremendously detrimental to the body.
After conferring with The Lord, I declined the chemotherapy. I decided it was time to trust God for all I needed.
I continued to be tested, using CAT and PET scans during the balance of 2006 and 2007. Late in 2007, after more tests, the Oncologist advised that I was cancer free. He stated he did not understand. I told him emphatically, I did and it was apparent God had healed me again.
This testimony is not just a recitation about Gods Goodness and Sovereignty, which is mighty, but also His care of each one of us and how He trains us and builds our faith in Him.
