And With His Stripes We Are Healed

Jesus paid for our healing at the Cross

"Surely he hath borne our griefs (Diseases), and carried our sorrows (Afflictions): yet we did esteem him smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was brusied for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:4-5.

Matthew 8:17 says, "Himself (Jesus) took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

In First Peter, chapter 2, verse 24 we find Peter talking about Jesus.

" Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. That "were" means your healing took place back two thousand years ago at the Atonement.

When Peter says, "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, he is talking about Jesus hanging on a cross for the redemption or atonement of mankind." Before Jesus went to the cross He suffered a beating on His body that literally slashed and sherdded His flesh. That was for the healing of our bodies, whether physical, spiritual, mental or emotionally and was paid for at the same atonement or sacrifice as our salvation. Physical healing is part of the redemptive work of Christ.

As children of God, why are we walking around with some sickness or disease, when Jesus said in His Word, By His stripes we are healed?

Because we have not been taught these truths. We cannot have faith to be healed unless we know what God's Word says. We hear some preacher tell us to come to the alter and repent and accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord; we do that and the preacher tells us we are saved. We don't doubt that.

But when we are hurting or have some dreaded disease and someone tells us we are healed, it seems then, we have a battle to fight. What battle? Well, then the devil floods our mind with things like, "You're not healed, you are still hurting." or "You still have all the symtoms so you can't be healed, the doctor said you were sick and even showed you an x-ray to prove it." The battle will be in your mind, that is the devil's arena of action. Fighting those thoughts will be one of the hardest things you have ever done. I know.

"3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ:" (2nd Cor 10:3-5).

Read those Scriptures again and realize how powerful we are through God and the authority God has given us. We can do this or Jesus would not have told us to do it. The negative thoughts the devil puts in our minds are the imaginations and high things that rise up in our minds to defeat us. We have to ignore, as much as we can, how we feel in our bodies and keep reminding Jesus of His Word.

God may choose to manifest some healings through the treatment of medical assistance, such as your doctor or medications. Some will not be healed simply because they will not stay true to God's Word. Others may not receive healing because their sickness is such they don't have time to build faith by reading and believing God's Word. Of course, in cases like this sometimes God moves in His sovereign power and heals simply because that is His desire. But, most certainly, if one does not believe the Word of God they will not be healed.

While I understand all will not be healed, myself also at times, I recommend this teaching for those who desire to follow God and His provision.

Being taught and knowing what your position is in Jesus will produce the desired results. Oh, it may take some time and you may think you are failing, but keep reminding Jesus that His Word is at stake and keep praising Him and again keep saying to Him, "Jesus, Your Word says by Your stripes I am healed."

It does not matter what we see, how we feel in our bodies, or what we think,
