A Time of Warning

The Bible, from cover to cover, gives us warning of what will happen to people that reject Jesus or are disobedient to Him. God calls them sinners, the ungodly or false brethren. False brethren could be included in the ungodly since they are not fulfilling the dictates of God’s counsel. Paul tells us of some false brethren that gave him a hard time, who claimed to be Christians but were not (II Cor. 11:26).

God, Himself, warned Adam and Eve what would happen to them if they were disobedient. They did not heed God’s warning, ate the forbidden fruit and suffered the consequences.

Noah warned the people of his day, the entire time he was building the Ark. Know what? They laughed at him and suffered the consequences (Gen. 7:15-23).

Because the Israelites displeased God they wandered in the wilderness forty years and suffered the consequences.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by brimstone and fire. The ruins of those cities are now under the waters of the Dead Sea. The people were so wicked they suffered the consequences (Gen. 19:24-28).

Many today are dwelling in the shadow of death by partaking of a deranged gospel designed to please the flesh, thus being deceived the same as Eve in the Garden of Eden, and they too, will suffer the consequences.

Ministers and lay people alike, are trying to warn people. They are exposing the heresy that is taught today and asking people to simply check out what they hear with the Word of Truth, the whole counsel of God’s Word. That doesn’t seem like an unreasonable request, since God, Himself, tells us to do the same thing. Peter, Paul and John, among others, warned the people of their day about heresy and the same warning is still crucial today.

False religions and false doctrines are being exposed by many concerned Christians. They, like myself, are concerned for the sheep (Believers) that are being deceived by the multitudes. I add my warning to others of like spirit, even though, like the others, I will no doubt be accused of dividing the Church.

Do people not know that Jesus came not to bring peace, but a sword? He came not to unite, but to divide. He came to divide saints from sinners, the godly from the ungodly, the pretenders and self-seekers from those who are obedient to Him. He came to divide sons from fathers, daughters from mothers, etc. He said a man’s foes would be those in his own family (Matt. 10:33-38).

In the Bible, Jesus called people hypocrites because they drew close to Him with their mouth, but their hearts were far away from Him. It is the same today. Jesus said these kind of people are deluding themselves. In other words, if we are not worshipping Jesus in spirit and truth we are wasting our time (John 4:23-24).

>p>I know of a Pastor’s wife, that for fifteen years, thought she was saved. She went to church at least three times a week, joined in the praise service and all the other activities, never once doubting her salvation. But one Sunday morning as the guest speaker gave the invitation to come forward and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, the precious Holy Spirit spoke to her heart. As she began to realize her true lost condition, she quickly stepped into the aisle, went to the front of the auditorium and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior. Not an easy thing for a Pastor’s wife to do, but the Holy Spirit gave her the courage to do what was needed.

We are told in II Cor. 6:16-7:1,

”And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Werefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

Adam and Eve were disobedient to God’s command and knew they had sinned and hid themselves from their Creator (Gen.3:7). Mankind, today, knows they have sinned and are naked before a holy God and most, rather than repent and submit to the Living God, would rather hide in darkness.

Many soothe their conscience with the rituals of false religions. Some even go so far as to get involved in satanic groups. Many so called Christians, are involved in ministries and churches to get gain from God through perverted Scriptures. Other well meaning Christians are sitting under the teaching of wolves in sheep’s clothing because of ignorance, willful stubbornness or self-centered, self-righteous pride. They cannot admit they are wrong. And there are those that are young in the Lord and do not know how to rightly divide God’s truth or try the spirits.

Just as God called to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3-9), He is calling to people today. To answer that call we must give up our selfish ways and totally turn to Him.
