As The Serpent Beguiled Eve...

AND he is still beguiling people today....

1 "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods,..." Gen. 3:1-5

Then Paul tells is in 2 Cor. 11:3..."But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."

Satan entered the Garden of Eden as a snake and beguiled Eve. To beguile means to mislead, fool, deceive, cheat or swindle. And let me tell you that deceiving people is satan's specialty.

In the above scripture Paul relates beguiled with corrupt which means if one is beguiled they will be corrupted and draw away from Jesus, just as Eve turned away from God.  Corrupt means dishonest, immoral, reprobate, depraved and perverted.

We all need to understand that we have power or authority over satan and his demonic realm. But we will never understand that power or authority until we understand Who Jesus is, what He did for us and our position in Him. Neither will we understand our power over the demonic realm until we understand who satan and his demons are, what they are like and how they operate. One of the most important things to know and always remember is how viciously cunning satan is.

I don't want to offend anyone, but I must tell you that one of the biggest things hindering the church today is that believers have been taught they can wield all kinds of supernatural power while they are yet babes in Christ. The length of time one has been a believer has absolutely nothing to do with whether one is a babe in Christ or a maturing Christain. To understand this will help keep doubt, frustration and disappointment out of ones life.

If, indeed, one needs to take authority over the demonic realm, and is aware that there is a lack of spiritual maturity, then that one needs to go to someone with the actual authority to help them. One will never be successful in spiritual warfare, either for oneself or for others, without knowledge of biblical truth and a certain amount of maturity (spiritual understanding).

You can rant and rave against the devil, you can command him, you can rebuke him all you want, but until you begin to be obedient to God's Word and His Holy Spirit (Learning what God's Word says) all you do or say will mean nothing.

Let me explain some of what is happening in the church and Christian circles today. Believers are running around saying, "I rebuke you Satan" and would you believe this tells Satan and his demons nothing? If I may say so it shows Satan our ignorance.

I'll explain. I have a little dog which we love very much, but if she wets in the floor and I say, "Angel, I rebuke you" this does not say anything to her. But if I take her to the wet spot and lightly make her smell of it and scold her, then she has been rebuked. To "rebuke" means an action taken.

Let me also say this, Before you can wield the power Jesus has, you must, at least, be approaching His likeness. Most believers today are not seeking Jesus or His likeness. They just want Jesus to perform for them and make their life as they want it to be. I am here to tell you, it will never happen.

Since the Bible tells us the serpent (Satan) is very subtle, we know that his tactics, most of the time, are not immediately obvious. We know he is shrewd, crafty, skilled in deception and very proficeint at what he does. From the scene in the Garden of Eden, we learn Satan cleverly, so very cleverly, twists and perverts the Word of God to accomplish his deceptions. Dear heart, if you think you cannot be deceived, you already are.

We are told many times in Scripture that false prophets and teachers would flood the world with their heresy. They are here in combined forces and have been very effective. (Matt. 7:15, 24:11, 24:24: Mark 13:22: Second Peter 2:1: First John 4:1).

"..such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel: for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his (Satan's) ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness;..." (II Cor. 11:13-15).

Satan can come as an angel of light when, in truth, he is the prince of darkness. This means he will come presenting evil in the guise of goodness. This cunning guise of good is fooling many believers. They see messages such as prosperity, confession, trying to put Satan under their feet in hopes they can control their lives and circumstances, as good Biblical things. The beguiling power of Satan is just as persuasive now as it was in the Garden of Eden and arouses the desires of the old nature.

Let's not let Satan take advantage of us. Let's learn about him and his ways.
