Saved And Healed
Jesus Paid For Both
This is a Truth that has been on my mind and in my heart for a long time. The Church (Body of Christ, Believers) have not had sufficient teaching from the Word of God to receive the healing Jesus purchased for them. That is what we are going to cover in this message, but first since it is titled "Saved and Healed" lets touch on being Saved first.
The word "Saved" is just short for Salvation. Jesus' Sacrifice on the Cross redeemed the human race, which includes, complete deliverance from the curse, including death. His Spiritual and bodily resurrection means we can place our trust in Him as our Savior and Lord. Jesus is the only God of this world and Scripture says in Acts 4:12,
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
If we repent, tell God we are sorry we have sinned against Him, and ask Jesus to come into our heart and be our Savior and Lord, He will, and if we meant that with all our hearts, we are saved. Then we must live for Him and obey His Word.
Now let's look at that word "Healed" and see if we can determine if that is for us also. As I said, Christians are so in need of healing and have not had proper teaching on that which is such a necessity today.
I want to show each person reading this that Salvation and Healing are in the same atonement. The same sacrifice purchased healing for us as well as Salvation. In one Scripture Jesus confirms this, Here it is,
"For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?" Matt. 9:5 & Mark 2:9.
When we get saved, repent and accept Jesus as our Savior, then if we are sick we should get healed at the same time. We are not healed at this time simply because we have not been taught that healing is in the atonement. We have not been taught that Jesus wants to heal us as much as He desires to save us.
"If sin, sickness, pain, suffering, death, and all the effects of sin were a part of the curse and the results of it, then they are atoned for and removed from us in God's plan" (Gal. 3:13, note a, Dake's Reference Bible).
Again in Isaiah 53, verse 5 it says,
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
"To wound means slay or pierce and this refers to piercing the hands, feet and side of Jesus.
To bruise means to beat to pieces, break, bruise, or crush.
"This refers to the stripes by scourging, cuts by thorns, and other bodily sufferings; and proves this was part of the work of atonement by which blood was shed. It was by this particular phase of punishment that bodily healing was provided for all alike. I Peter 2:24.
The Messiah's healing power in Isa. 53:5 has no reference to spiritual healing whatsoever. There are at least 14 Hebrew and Greek words found in scores of passages which plainly teach bodily soundness, healing, health, preservation, salvation and deliverance. Sometimes one of these words is used in the same passage of both body and soul, and thus proves that it is not limited to the spiritual part of man." Dake's Annotated Reference Bible, Page 744.
It is easy for us to accept, that when we repented and accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, we were saved. Why? Because some one or some preacher told us that when we did these things we would be saved. There were no physical struggles to overcome as there is when someone tells us we are healed. Oh, sometimes, the devil will whisper in out minds things like, "How do you know you are saved?" Then we tell him, "The Word of God tells us we are."
But when we go to the doctor and he tells us things like, "You have the flu" or "You have cancer" etc. then that is a whole different thing. Why? Because we have not been taught that we are healed by the same sacrifice that Jesus paid for us to be saved. It is one sacrifice. The stripes on His body for our healing and His shed blood for our salvation (Isa. 53:5, I Peter 2:24). It all happened at the same time, at the atonement.
Jesus wants to heal us, God the Father wants to heal us. During the time of Jesus' earth ministy, He healed everyone that came to Him. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." That means Jesus is still healing people today. Hallelujah!
I have been healed many times and sometimes from things the doctor said there was no cure. So, here I want to list some Scriptures each of us should read and re-read until we have faith in what God Word says. The more we read the following Scriptures, the more we dwell on the following Scriptures, the more we confess or speak the following Scriptures, the more faith we are getting from our mind to our heart. Heart faith is what makes God's Word real to us. Heart faith is what moves God.
Matthew 8:16, "...he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick."
Matthew 12:15, "...great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all."
Matthew 14;14, "And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick."
Matthew 15:30-31, "And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel."
Mark 1:34, "And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils..."
Mark 3;10, "For he had healed many, insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues."
Luke 4:40, Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them."
Luke 5:15, "...great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities."
Luke 9:11, "....and healed them that had need of healing."
Acts of the Apostles 5:16, "....and they were healed every one."
Exodus 15:26, "....I am the Lord that healeth thee."
Mark 16:18 is the commission to the Church and says Believers in the Name of Jesus shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
Matthew 10:1, "....he gave them (His 12 disciples) power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease."
I wish for you the faith to keep saying "Jesus by Your stripes I am healed" and keep saying it. The more you say it, the more it builds faith.
God Bless You!
