The Stone The Builders Rejected

Rejected.  Not a pretty word.  Not a pretty meaning.  It means to turn away from, cast aside or ignore.  It means to refuse to believe or receive; to cast or throw away as useless.  And this applies to Christians as well as sinners.  Listen to this in Hosea 4:6a, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,..."

Here the Lord is talking about His people.  My people, My people , God is talking about His own and they have rejected Him and His ways.  Because they have the Lord will reject them.  I don't want to believe that most Christians want to live a so-so spiritual life; that they never want to know the peace and joy of asking God to control their life.  To reject God's ways that He has set down in His Word is living a perilous life.

Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10 and Luke 20:17 all say, "...The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes."

Notes on Mark from Dake's Annotated Reference Bible says, "Christ is referred to as a 'Stone' and 'Rock'.  The true meaning is that Christ (the Stone) was rejected by the builders (rulers of Israel) but was exalted by God, the chief architect of the nation."

Notes from the same on Matthew says, "Whoever throws himself on the mercy of Christ shall be broken and made contrite (Ps. 34:18, 51:17), but whoever rejects His mercy shall be completely crushed."

The corner stone or capstone is the one that holds all the building together.  One cannot build a building without a corner stone.  One cannot get to heaven without this corner Stone.

And John 12:48 says, "He (anyone) that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."

To reject (to count as nothing, despise) Christ's words means in the last day, these very words that one rejected will judge that person guilty.  Guilty of what? Guilty of rejecting the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for the sins of all humanity and will be worthy of eternity in hell.

Jesus died a horrible death on a cross; shed His blood for my sin and your sin, rose from the dead and now sits on the right hand of God.  If you want to spend eternity in Heaven with Him you can.  All you need do is bow your head right now and repent, tell Him you are sorry you have sinned against Him, ask Him to forgive you and come into your heart and be Savior and Lord of your life, He will.

Jesus loves you and died for you.
All you have to do is live for Him.

Lookup a word or passage in the Bible

"Although God's promise still stands--his promise that all may enter his place of rest--we ought to tremble with fear because some of you may be on the verge of failing to get there after all. For this wonderful news--the message that God wants to save us--has been given to us just as it was to those who lived in the time of Moses. But it didn't do them any good because they didn't believe it. They didn't mix it with faith."
Hebrews 4:1-2, LB

I wish for you the peace and joy of trusting God with your life
