Counterfeits

There are many counterfeits in the world today. There are false things such as money, leather, diamonds and perfume just to mention a few. It might surprise you to know there are also counterfeit preachers and teachers. There is also false brethren and false doctrine. Paul speaks of false brethren in 2 Cor. 11:26.

There are already lying wonders in the world today and there will be many more in these last days of earth. One person claims to see out of an eye where there is no eyeball. Another speaks without a voice box and another hears without eardrums. These are all fake, lying wonders (2 Thess. 2:11). They are designed to deceive God’s people.

I have mentioned this experience I had with the Lord before, but I would like to call it to your attention again. Please take note and remember the following, as it may help you to be more alert for such in the Church.

I was riding along in our car with my husband, probably 20 years ago, when the Lord said, “What is a counterfeit?” I thought, well, I know what a counterfeit is. Then the Lord said, “It is something so very, very close to the real thing it takes an expert to know the difference.”

I had to admit I was not a spiritual expert, and I don’t consider myself one today. I cannot honestly say that I am “soooo spiritual” that I could never be deceived by the devil. I don’t know any spiritual experts. I know some who think they are.

I don’t mean to belabor the point, but we all need to remember to check out everything we see or hear with the whole counsel of God’s Word.
