Total Commitment To God

Is To Be A Bond Slave

How much do we really love the Lord?  To what extent is our commitment to God?  How deeply do we feel about Him?  How much are we willing to give Him? Is our love for Him shallow?  Do we love Him with ever fiber of our being?  Do we feel a great passion for Him?  Are we willing to give Him all of ourselves and all we possess?  Are we His to do with as He pleases?

One day (Dec. 28th) I was taking a nap when I was suddenly awakened by a bell ringing and I thought it  was the telephone.  I don't know what the bell was, but it wasn't the telephone.  I tried to go back to sleep but the Lord started talking to me and the more He talked the wider awake I became.  He said........

"Many of my children think of me as a power, force or a being far off in space somewhere.  I want them to know that I love them and I am not way off in space, I am living in their hearts.  I am that close to them.  They are my children.  I would never forsake them."

He also said, "I delight in their worship, their prayers and their prayer requests. I would have  all to know that many do not know Me as they should.  Too many know about Me but they do not have an intimate or close relationship with Me." He said, "I challenge all My children to get to know me intimately.  I desire my children to trust me completely.  They will only have faith in Me if they know Me."

Romans 1:1 says, "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God."

The greek word for servant is "Doulos" which also means slave or bondslave; one who is owned by another.  Vines's Dictionary of New Testament Words says, "the word 'Doulos' means to bind or a slave, originally the lowest term in the scale of servitude, and came also to mean one who gives himself up to the will of another."  In this case Paul admits he is owned by his Lord, Jesus Christ.

In First Corinthians 6:19-20 we find, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which are God's."

I realize many are taught that we are the "Kings kids" and therefore we should have everything we want, when we want it and how we want it.  We are also taught that as the "Kings kids" we have certain rights that we should exercise. But my Bible says we are bondslaves as well as God's Children; bought with a price and are no longer our own.  A slave is the exclusive property of his or her master and God's Word says we have been bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ and we are no longer our own.

Since we are no longer our own, we no longer dictate to God what we want in our lives.  We should be willing slaves or servants to our Lord.  We should desire His control over everything in our lives.  I know one thing and that is that God knows better than we do about what will make us happy and at peace in a world gone crazy for carnal things.  We should do nothing until we get Jesus' approval.  How do we make this kind of commitment?

First, it must be a willing, heart felt commitment.  We simply ask Jesus to be Lord of our lives in reality. We tell Him the desire of our heart, which is to have Him in control of everything that touches our life. But I would warn anyone that wants to do this to understand just what they are asking. Jesus will take you at your word.  He will bring about circumstances, situations and perhaps even sorrow to establish the faith that is needed to totally trust Jesus as He supervises your life.

Second, it will take stubborn determination because it requires a good deal of faith in Jesus to trust Him to that degree, but it will happen if we persevere. There will be times when we think we just can't endure anymore, but just hang in there.  I will tell you this.  Living with Jesus in complete control of ones life is a glorious and rewarding journey.  There will be hard times, but there are hard times in everyone's life, even those who are not Christians.  But with Jesus controling ones life, there will also be times when miraculous things or happenings will occur.

There was a time in our lives that my husband had lung cancer and the doctor gave him six months to live.  We, together, decided and told God that we would really like for him to be healed, but if taking him in death was His will, than we accepted that and knew it would be for the best.  That was more than five years ago and doctors can no longer find the cancer. PRAISE THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS.

This kind of faith will please God (Heb. 11:6).
