The Bargaining Power of Satan

Few can resist the bargaining power of Satan. When he comes with thoughts of wealth and power many fall into his trap. And it is a trap. Little do people realize that with Satan's temptations of wealth comes a hidden snare. Whether one realizes it or not Satan will, at sometime or other, require payment for his favors.

9 "But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (First Timothy 6:9-10)

When Satan tempts his own to sell their soul for fame and fortune, he feels secure in the fact that they are already his property (non-Christians). Of course, they could at any time, hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, repent and be saved. This would, no matter their condition, take them out of Satan's hands and place them in the family of God. However, most of the time when someone goes so far as to sell their soul to the devil, for whatever gain they may receive, the bargain has been established, and usually the devil takes that person immediately into such depths of degradation that repentance never takes place. Thus, that person is lost and, according to Scripture, will spend eternity in hell.

When Satan tempts believers with the pleasures of sin or material and financial wealth, he is trying to strike a bargain. When he tells us we can be little gods or, like he told Eve, as gods, again he is attempting to bargain with us. When believers take false doctrine to their heart, Satan is bargaining with them. He is cunningly giving them a gospel that pleases their flesh and makes no demands on them, for his claim on their heart and soul.

Pastors, knowingly or unknowingly, accept a bargain with Satan by compromising the truth of God's Word for magnificent church structures, large congregations and huge bank accounts. No matter what they think, they are bargaining with the master deceiver. Some preachers, having never been saved, are some of the false prophets and teachers of today, called Satan's ministers of righteousness. (II Cor. 11:15).

People may not know they are dealing with the devil but anytime we are led into any of the devil's deceptions or schemes he has masterminded, he will accept that as a bargain. False teaching (heresy), visualization, prosperity, confession, martial arts, magic, psychology, self-esteem, self- motivation, counterfeit religions and counterfeit miracles, etc. are some of Satan's ingenious tricks to deceive.

Satan's bargaining power is tremendous and caters to our carnal nature. If we seek carnal things, such as wealth or power, we are bargaining with Satan. If we seek control over our own life, Satan comes in with his bargaining power. You can have all this and more if you want to bargain with Satan. God will not force anyone to serve Him.

Years ago when my husband and I were loosing all our possessions, Satan told me, "If you were serving me you would not be loosing all your things." That was Satan trying to bargain with me. I had to tell him to get lost in Jesus name. Let me say here that if anyone bargains with Satan there is a price to pay and sometime Satan will collect.

In Satan's mind, if believers or non-believers willingly follow his devices for gain that satisfies the flesh, they have accepted his bargain. If anyone has fallen into one or more of his traps, that one must repent, renounce it and turn to God's truth.

To bargain is to make an agreement or contract involving the sale or purchase of goods or service, a contract binding one person into the service of another. If we are trapped into participating in any of the above, Satan has sold us a bill of goods and eventually that one will pay the price.

Oh, we may not know we have made a bargain with Satan but if we live our lives the way we want and wallow in false teaching Satan accepts that as a bargain.

Remember when Satan tried to tempt Jesus? Satan told Jesus he would give Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory that comes with them. We know that Jesus told Satan to get lost. (Matt. 4:8-10). Since Satan is the prince of this world (John 14:30), and the god of this world's system (II Cor. 4:4), the kingdoms of this world were and are his to give for an allotted time, if he so chooses. The offer he made Jesus was an authentic one, but I doubt Satan would have honored the bargain.

Many are seeking to control any part of the world systems, even trying to make God give them what they want by twisting His Word to make it mean something it does not mean. The price Jesus was required to pay for the world systems was to fall down an worship Satan, His worst enemy. Satan's offer to Jesus contained the same temptation he offered Eve in the Garden of Eden, when discussing the forbidden tree (Gen. 3:6). Every sin or temptation Satan offers falls in the same catagory as the offer to Eve, which is, "the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life." (Gen. 3:6; I John 2:15-17).

The price you will be required to pay will be giving praise and worship to your worst enemy, Satan. You may not realize you are giving him praise and worship but Satan will accept praise however and from whomever he can get it. If we seek the things of this world through false doctrine such as the prosperity or name it and claim it gospels, we give Satan praise because we have allowed him to deceive us. We have struck a bargain with him, in that we are using his crafty perversion of Scripture, to satisfy our carnal lusts. Oh, by the way, he may or may not give us our desires. We must remember Satan is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44). Once we give him our devotion he will eventually destroy us if we don't turn to God and ask forgiveness and then follow Him.

It gives Satan a great deal of satisfaction for us to be deceived into partaking of his false teachings and concepts. Satan sits in his unseen realm, and laughs at God's people who are unaware of his deceptions.

How sad that the lust of our flesh, the lust of our eyes, and our pride allows Satan to have this tremendous bargaining power.

Repent and turn to Jesus.
