Nevertheless, At Thy Word

At thy word says we are going to trust someone on their word alone. Have we ever done that and been very disappointed? Because we discovered that the one we were placing our faith in was not trustworthy. The one we were placing our faith in failed us completely and, at the very least, left us frustrated and disillusioned.

But I know One that we can place our faith in and will never fail us. He will never leave us disappointed. He will never leave us disillusioned. His name is Jesus. Do you know Him? It is wonderful to have Him in control of our life, because He is always true to the one that lives for Him. Let's go to His Word and see if we can confirm this. Luke 5:1-6 says,

"1And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their net brake."

Peter was a little bit like we are sometimes, skeptical, right? I have served the Lord for a lot of years and I must confess that there have been times when I was a little uncertain, and still am sometimes. Everyone has felt a little skeptical or uncertain about their faith in God if they have walked with Him for very long. That is why I felt the need for this message.

Peter was a fisherman, had always been a fisherman. Probably his father and grandfather were fishermen. If there was one thing Peter knew how to do, it was fish. Jesus had used Peter's boat to teach the people and wanted to bless him so He told Peter to row out into deep water and let down his nets for a draught or big haul.

Now here is where Peter got skeptical for he said, "Master, we have labored all night and have not found any fish." Now here we go, Peter said, nevertheless at thy word I will let down my nets.

Nevertheless, at thy word, I will let down the nets. And what happened? He caught so many fish it broke the nets. Glory to God. He knows how to bless.

We all need to learn from Peter's experience. We all need to learn to take God at His Word. Right? We ask God for something and if we don't get it instantly we get skeptical and doubt God. Sometimes when we go to God for something we have to understand that God knows best and He will answer our prayer the best way and in His time. Sometimes we don't like that.

We live in an instant world where we can get things instantly. Instant gas for our car. Instant food at home due to our Microwave oven. Instant food, just drive up to a window and they will hand it our to you, no waiting. You know what I have found out? God is not an instant God. He has all the time in the world. Sometimes I wish He would work on my time schedule but He don't.

We believe our doctors, we believe the television, we believe the newspaper, we believe our history books. THEN WHY DON'T WE BELIEVE GOD?

It does not matter what we hear, feel, or even see, because God's Word is final authority. Living for God and trusting Him with all your life and everything that touches your life is a wonderful and delightful thing. I may not get everything I want but you know what? I figure God knows best and you know what else? I have found that whatever God does with my life always makes me happy. He knows what you like better than you do. He has a plan for your life and I know one thing, it will be wonderful for you. And if you know Jesus as your Savior and Lord at the end of life you will spend eternity with Him in heaven.

So I pray each person that reads this will learn to say,

NEVERTHELESS, AT THY WORD.

Faith And Doubt

Doubt sees the obstacles
Faith sees the way!
Doubt sees the darkest night,
Faith sees the day!
Doubt dreads to take a step,
Faith soars on high
Doubt questions,"Who believes?"
Faith answers, "I!"

I wish for you the faith to say, "Nevertheless, At Thy Word Lord"

God Bless You!
